Here is an important update for the FRCR Part 1 aspirants. The Royal College of Radiologists has officially opened the booking window (non-members) for the FRCR Part 1 September 2026 exam, which is the last diet of the year. The member bookings had started already on March 30, and now non-member candidates can also book their slots.
And honestly, figuring out all the details regarding the exam can feel a bit much at first. Dates, eligibility, exam pattern, it is a lot. FRCR Part 1 September 2026: Important dates
Member bookings open: 30 March 2026
Non-member bookings open: 7 April 2026
Booking closes: 10 July 2026
Results published: 1 October 2026

- Anatomy: 11 September 2026

FRCR Part 1 September 2026: Eligibility criteria
- A primary medical qualification recognised by the GMC
- Be in, or have completed, a formal clinical radiology training post
- No minimum period of clinical experience or radiology training is required
FRCR Part 1: Exam Format
The FRCR Part 1, which is the first part in the FRCR pathway, checks how well you understand the basics and how you apply them. The exam has two parts, Physics and Anatomy. Both are important, and you need to clear them to move forward.
Physics
Mode: Computer-based
Questions: 40 multiple-choice questions
Duration: 2 hours
Anatomy
Mode: Computer-based
Questions: 100 image-based questions
Duration: 90 minutes
