Planning to take FRCR Part 2A in April 2026 and have not booked your seat yet? If so, here is an important update for you. The booking window for the above-mentioned exam will close soon. As per the official information, the booking window, which was opened on 20th October 2025, will close on 13 February 2026. So, if you are serious about taking the exam this April, you must act fast, as there are only a few days left to secure your seat.

What is FRCR Part 2A?
FRCR Part 2A is the second step you need to clear in order to achieve the fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists. The exam consists of two separate papers of Single Best Answer (SBA) questions. It is conducted twice a year, with exams usually conducted in April and November. Each paper comprises 120 SBA questions, and there will be a mix of questions from a wide range of areas, which includes
- Cardiothoracic and Vascular
- Musculoskeletal and Trauma
- Gastro-intestinal
- Genito-urinary, Adrenal, Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Breast
- Paediatric
- Central Nervous and Head & Neck
Candidates are given three hours to complete each paper.
FRCR Part 2A April 2026: Important dates
Resident doctor & member bookings: 20 October 2025
Non-member bookings: 27 October 2025
Bookings closing date: 13th February 2026
Exam dates:
Paper 1: 14 April 2026
Paper 2: 15 April 2026
Results publication date: 7th May 2026

Eligibility criteria for FRCR Part 2A
- Must have cleared the FRCR Part 1 examination.
- Must have completed 24 months of formal clinical radiology training by the exam month.
