  • Non-member bookings open: 19 January 2026
  • Bookings closing date: 17 April 2026
  • Reporting exam: 19 June 2026
  • Oral exam: 22 June 2026
  • Results date: 23 July 2026

Eligibility criteria

Ensure that you meet the eligibility requirements before starting to apply for the examination.

  • Applicants must have successfully passed the Part 1 and Part 2A FRCR exams.
  • Candidates must have undertaken a minimum of 34 months of formal clinical radiology training in a recognised post.

FRCR Part 2B exam format

The FRCR Part 2B exam consists of three components, all of which are conducted via the RISR/Assess digital platform.

Short case reporting

This component includes 25 plain film cases to be completed in 120 minutes. It tests your ability to interpret radiographs swiftly and accurately.

Long case reporting

This segment assesses your analytical thinking and multimodality interpretation skills. It comprises 6 multimodality cases to be completed in 75 minutes.

Oral/viva component

The oral examination, which evaluates clinical reasoning and communication skills, includes 12 cases to be discussed in 60 minutes with four examiners.
