All About FRCR
The Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists is a prestigious examination conducted by the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR). The examination consists of three stages of assessment. Upon successfully completing all stages, candidates are granted the fellowship and may use the post-nominal title FRCR.
FRCR Exam Overview
FRCR Part 1
FRCR Part 1 is the first stage of the FRCR examination and consists of two modules: Physics and Anatomy. The exam is conducted over a single day and assesses a candidate’s fundamental knowledge of the physical principles of medical imaging and their understanding of anatomy as relevant to clinical radiology.

Mode of exam: Computer-based test
Number of questions: 40 Multiple choice questions
Exam duration: 2 hours
FRCR Part 1- Anatomy module
Mode of exam: Computer-based test
Number of questions: 100 image-associated questions
Exam duration: 90 minutes

FRCR Part 2A is the second stage of evaluation for attaining the RCR Fellowship. This written examination assesses candidates on their understanding of systemic radiology and their problem-solving skills at an advanced level.

- Number of Papers : 2 papers
- Number of Questions: 120 SBA questions for each paper
- Duration: 3 hours for each paper
FRCR Part 2B
FRCR Part 2B is the final hurdle in the journey towards achieving the Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists. It is an advanced-level examination that consists of three components- a reporting session, a short case reporting session, and an Oral examination.
