FRCR Part 2B January 2026 exam format
The Royal College of Radiologists has implemented some major updates to the FRCR Part 2B exam from June 2025 onwards. The RCR introduced the changes to ensure the assessment remains fair, robust, and reflective of current medical practice. However, the earlier three-part structure of the exam remains unchanged with two reporting components and one oral exam.
Short case reporting – 25 plain film cases in 120 minutes
Long case reporting – 6 multimodality cases in 75 minutes
Oral/viva component – 12 cases in 60 minutes (with four examiners)
All are conducted via the risr/assess digital platform.
