Successfully completed the first hurdle of FRCR? Here’s an important update for you. The booking window for the FRCR Part 2A April 2026 exam is now open. The Royal College of Radiologists started accepting applications from its members and resident doctors on 20 October 2025, while non-members can start applying from 27 October 2025 onwards.

FRCR Part 2A April 2026 exam: Important dates

Resident doctor & member bookings: 20 October 2025

Non-member bookings: 27 October 2025

Bookings closing date: 13 February 2026

Exam dates:

Paper 1: 14 April 2026

Paper 2: 15 April 2026

Results publication date: 7 May 2026

Please note that the booking opening time varies with venues. Better you should check the RCR exam hub for specific opening times. The exam fees vary for members and non-members, and they also vary depending on the location where you choose to take the exam. Visit the official FRCR website to know more about the exam fee.

FRCR Part 2A April 2026 exam: Eligibility criteria

  • Must have cleared the FRCR Part 1 examination.
  • Must have completed 24 months of formal clinical radiology training by the exam month.
  • A maximum of 6 attempts are allowed to take the FRCR Part 2A exam.

FRCR Part 2A: Exam format

It is an MCQ-based written examination, consisting of two papers. Each paper includes 120 Single Best Answer (SBA) questions. The exam papers comprise a mix of questions from across a wide range of the curriculum:

  • Cardiothoracic and Vascular
  • Musculoskeletal and Trauma
  • Gastro-intestinal
  • Genito-urinary, Adrenal, Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Breast
  • Paediatric
  • Central Nervous and Head & Neck
