The Royal College of Radiologists will soon open the booking window for the FRCR Part 1 March 2026 exam for non-members. Bookings for resident doctors and RCR members began already on October 6, 2025. The above-mentioned exam is scheduled to be conducted on March 12 & 13, 2025.

FRCR Part 1 exam format
The FRCR Part 1 examination tests a candidate’s understanding of radiological anatomy and the physics behind diagnostic imaging. It is structured as two separate modules, namely Physics and Anatomy.
Physics module
This part tests understanding of imaging principles, radiation safety, and UK ionising radiation legislation.
- Exam mode: Computer-based
- Questions: 40 multiple-choice questions
- Duration: 2 hours
Anatomy module
This part tests candidates’ knowledge of radiological anatomy across different imaging modalities.
- Exam mode: Computer-based
- Questions: 100 image-based questions
- Duration: 90 minutes
Candidates can attempt both modules in the same session or individually. However, the candidate needs to pass both modules to successfully complete FRCR Part 1.
